52 Reasons Why I Am Thankful

Thanksgiving Day is here, and today is the day where families get together, sit down to a marvelous feast, and reflect on the things that they are thankful for. Gratitude is something that should not only be exclusive to Thanksgiving Day, but something we should practice in our daily lives. There are so many reasons to be thankful, but here is a list of things I am grateful for this year. You may be able to relate to most, if not all, of these items.

1. Life

Tomorrow is never promised to us, and I am grateful for being given another day. I am also thankful for the age that I am and the era that I am living in. It is a blessing that I was not born in a time or place where women did not have any rights or lived past a certain age.  I am thankful that I grew up in the era before social media. I am also grateful for the future, past, and present, and for experiencing all that I have.

2. Family

I am grateful to be blessed for having such a supportive family. We may not always see eye to eye, but we are there for each other when it matters the most. I cannot imagine what life would be like without them.

3. I am thankful for having a roof over my head.

Where I live, the summers can get very hot, and the winters can be brutal. Having shelter is something that I am thankful for because there are so many people who do not have a place to call home.

4. Clean water

Fresh, drinkable water is something that we often take for granted; We need it to be able to live. Many people in the world do not have access to safe, clean water, so we should be grateful and consider it a privilege.

For their untainted view on life, their laughter, and just being plain adorable!

6. My Parents

For giving me life, their love, patience, and sacrifices. Without them, there is no me.

I am grateful that I do not have to go hungry. Many others are not able to say the same.

For always encouraging and understanding me. She was able to know what I am feeling without saying a word. I am grateful for the talks we had every morning before I started my day. She was always able to comfort me effortlessly, and I always felt better after talking to her. Although I may not have fully understood some of the advice she gave me when I was younger, I get it now.

Children are a blessing. Despite becoming a mom at a young age, I am grateful I had my daughter when I did, and I would not change a thing. You finally begin to understand your parents when you become one yourself. Watching your kids grow from babies to adults is an amazing, yet sobering experience. Having a child is when you truly learn what unconditional love is. My daughter is a visionary, and she encourages us to chase after dreams. She is an example of making the impossible a possibility. She shows us to be comfortable with expressing our emotions.
