Thanksgiving Day is here, and today is the day where families get together, sit down to a marvelous feast, and reflect on the things that they are thankful for. Gratitude is something that should not only be exclusive to Thanksgiving Day, but something we should practice in our daily lives. There are so many reasons to be thankful, but here is a list of things I am grateful for this year. You may be able to relate to most, if not all, of these items.

It has been 20 years since Destiny’s Child launched their sophomore album, The Writing’s On the Wall.   This album gave us tunes that made us want to cry, contemplate, reclaim our power, and made us want to get up and dance. Most importantly is gave us advice on how to navigate love via “relationship commandments.”

When I first heard The Writing’s On the Wall, it immediately struck a chord with me. I was obsessed with the album and played it every day. As a woman who was in her early twenties at the time, I have had my share of less-than-favorable experiences with the opposite sex, and I was able to relate. The Writing’s On The Wall served as the ultimate guide to relationships, and Destiny’s Child taught us a thing or two about love.

With a focal point on relationship troubles, the album also had an underlying message of women empowerment and became the main soundtrack of young women everywhere. The Writing’s On The Wall is the last album recorded with the original group members Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, Letoya Luckett, and Latavia Roberson.
